SIESTA CONCERT
For a period of up to 1h30min, Armani composes, in real time, a series of sound pieces using natural soundscapes superimposed with layers of mid and low spectrum frequencies produced through sound synthesis using analog synthesizers. These materials are edited and manipulated using iPad applications and the result is reproduced on a sound system in the room. This was the first project developed in this artistic residency program. |

SONS OPERANDO A MATÉRIA / SOUNDS OPERATING MATTER
Sounds Operating Matter is a concert proposal developed by the Brazilian sound artist and musician Marcelo Armani that moves through the concepts present in the aspects of electroacoustic and concrete music, Krautrock and Ambient, employing experimental techniques in composition with new technologies in the field of sound art, improvisation and iPad Music. Armani works with sound collages, creating and superimposing, in real time, layers of sounds as a way of composing sensory sonic universes characterized by textures, grains, transduction, dilutions and dimensional variations. In this process, the artist uses amplified surfaces, records soundscapes and audio synthesis. Aided by interfaces and musical modelling and editing resources, the artist transforms and recreates intentions in a constant flow supported by analogue and digital languages to conduct improvisation. In this context, the result of each concert is unique. Each element dedicated to the sound composition is rooted in the philosophy of ephemerality, in the action of the present, in the “reasons for error” and in the constant listening to sonic materiality as a principle and feedback in the construction of narrative processes. Sounds Operating Matter is a sensorial invitation that suggests the deconstruction of the abstraction of sound and is inserted in the perceptual territory of the plastic and spatial qualities of this physical phenomenon, interacting with the different forms and means in a sculptural practice of volumes and traces on the matter of space and time. |

头ABERTA<->STUDIO
Instalação Sonora, art in situ / Sound Installation, art in situ 4-channel audio open studio program November, 11 and 12, 2023 Estúdio/ateliê?!... Studio/atelier?!... Then I open my head. Them to a spatial representation. In an extension of multiple perceptions that are transported by the sound of words, noises and one or another landscape that stands out. In this 3D volume I fill the void by exposing memories that process the process of constructing memories in an essay of propositions. In the hope of not projecting myself into parameters, models or schools that flourish throughout the timeline of art history. Anyway, I always fall somewhere along that line. Here in this space, I condense my journey through Chengdu into raw attempts. A table loaded with sketches, objects, words representing a collection of feelings and reflections. From a table come audio cables that connect to speakers, amplifying the responses/reflections about another “I” that awaits me in a past order. In this space I report parts of a conversation between this “I” here in Chengdu and that other “I” that I have not seen since the night of September 22, 2023 when I came here from there. In this space there is the essence of the process. There is the answer about the need to return to my home, which today I understand is not a physical place, but a state of feeling. So today I Re-Connect and make this place an invitation not to an exhibition, but to a place that for 53 days nurtured a feeling of home My Culture Shuts Me Up The Sound Of Construction Everywhere Attempt With Pronunciation The Sound Behind The Writing Not Only Cameras Control Us The Uniform Magnetted On The Body The Voice Of The Machine The Award For Work Brazil Is A Tv Show The Intellectual Alienation Chengdu, China October 18, 2023, ???:?? p.m. I'm 1 month away from returning and I've been here for almost 30 days. Today, after some time has passed and others to come, there is a mixture of longing for here and there. From all experiences there are always memories of shared moments, of the pseudo adaptations we practice, of the fact of forgetting that we are constantly observed by the human iris behind the digitized codes. We pile up data at an astonishing speed that fills cloud skies. I remember that I need to compose a repertoire that will accompany me to other situations in a kind of vehicle that takes me to observe from another horizon. I'm practically halfway through composing and uncomposing distances. Chengdu, China November 1 and 3, 2023, 1:07 p.m. / 12:37 p.m. By opening the head and seeing it projected into external space, the eyes can now observe it without the effort of inverting the eyeball into the skull. There is this human need in a technological treatise to speculate possible changes and transformations in the environment. More lights in the pitch black of night, erasing the ancient glow of celestial bodies. More colors, new colors to cover the gray concrete construction that disappears from view in a gray cloud that invades my bronchi. Opening my head and my eyes witness listening to an unknown language. Our own voice circulating inside our head. Landscape phonemes. Chengdu, China November 2, 2023, 12:32 p.m. November 2nd is the day of the dead in Brazil. Today I think about dependence on the markings, limits, borders of a geographic space that tries to concentrate our desires, desires... basically a territorial artifice that retains lives under a notion that escapes culture. I practice dimension conquests and constantly encounter blood when removing earth. Between power struggles and beliefs, I remain alone, perpetually belonging to my steps. |
